Bridgestone Americas has offered “the most sustainable tires” in the history of NTT Indycar Series with Firestone-branded tires incorporating recycled plastics. Used in the 107th running of the Indianapolis 500 on 28 May, the tires were manufactured at Bridgestone's ‘advanced tire production centre, in Akron, Ohio. The site will produce all race tires for the 2023 season, using rubber produced by ISCC Plus-certified “recycled-attributed butadiene”. Supplied by Shell, the butadiene is sourced from waste plastics, including from shopping bags, film, stretch-wrap and other flexible packaging.
