Continental takes on co-chair of ‘Tire Industry Project’

TIP is tire industry’s “most important global forum for sustainability”
Hanover, Germany – Continental AG has taken on the role of fourth co-chair of the Tire Industry Project (TIP) joining the existing co-chairs Bridgestone, Goodyear, and Michelin.
In a statement 21 Feb, continental said it will contribute resources and expertise in the areas of end-of-life tires, sustainability assessment methods, and sustainable materials to TIP.
According to the German group, TIP is the tire industry’s “most important global forum for sustainability.”
Project activities cover all phases of the tire lifecycle, from raw material procurement to manufacturing and use phases through to the management of end-of-life tires.
Set up under the auspices of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, TIP brings together ten major tire makers, together representing more than 60% of global tire production capacity.
TIP members include: Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Hankook, Kumho, Michelin, Pirelli, Sumitomo Rubber, Toyo Tire & Rubber and Yokohama Rubber Co.
