Melksham, UK – Avon Protection has received a second delivery order for advanced combat helmets (ACHs), worth $6.7 million (€6.2 million), from the US Defense Logistics Agency.
The order is for second-generation ACHs under a contract which was awarded to Avon in February 2022, the company said in a statement 9 Feb.
As previously reported by the Melksham-based company, the contract has a maximum value of $204 million over a five-year duration.
According to Avon, “rigorous testing” is currently ongoing on the helmets, ahead of the ramp-up of a planned manufacturing programme.
Initial deliveries, it stated, are set to start in the financial year 2024, starting 1 Oct this year.
The deal, continued Avon, will place the company as “the leading helmet supplier” to the US department of defence.
"We're delighted to continue protecting US military personnel… and look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership with this important customer," said Avon CEO Jos Sclater.
