Facility located at tire maker’s test centre in Hokkaido
Hiratsuka, Japan – Yokohama Rubber Co. has opened a new indoor ice circle test facility at its tire test centre of Hokkaido (TTCH).
The facility, dedicated to testing winter tires’ turning performance on an icy surface, is claimed to be “Japan’s largest” indoor facility for ice tire testing.
In a statement 7 Feb, Yokohama Rubber said the unit will help it improve the accuracy of its test data and help develop more advanced technologies.
The facility has nearly 2,000 square metres of ice surface, and enables testing at turning radiuses of 10–22 metres.
Yokohama Rubber opened the TTCH in December 2015, where it say it has introduced “advanced and sophisticated” testing and evaluation technologies to support global expansion.
