Butadiene rubber manufactured in Chiba certified by International Sustainability and Carbon Certification
Tokyo – Ube Elastomer Co. Ltd has gained sustainability recognition by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) for its butadiene rubber (BR), manufactured in Japan.
In an announcement 6 Feb, the Japanese manufacturer said it received the ISCC Plus certificate for its Ubepol BR and Ubepol VCR rubbers manufactured at the group’s Chiba factory.
The ISCC Plus certification ensures that biomass, recycled materials and sustainable feedstock are appropriately managed under the mass-balance method throughout the supply chain including manufacturing processes.
With the certification, Ube said it will start producing and selling ‘ISCC Plus certified’ products under the mass-balance method.
Mass balance is a 'chain of custody' model that tracks recycled materials co-processed with virgin materials in existing assets and guarantees that the recycled-content is appropriately allocated to products.
