Signs MoU for waste tire recycling plants in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Estonia
Dillingen, Germany – Pyrum Innovations AG has signed a deal with Norwegian circular plastics company Polyfuels Group AB to jointly establish four end-of-life tire (ELT) pyrolysis plants across Europe.
The parties have signed an MoU for the construction of the facilities in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Estonia by 2030, announced German tire pyrolysis specialist Pyrum.
Based on Pyrum technology, the plants will be realised by Circular Tires AS, a 100% subsidiary of Polyfuels, according to the 24 Jan statement.
Each operation will consist of at least three pyrolysis reactors with a capacity of around 20 kilotonnes of ELTs, the Dillingen-based company added.
According to the MoU, the two companies are to contractually agree the construction projects, via a joint venture, within the next 12 months.
“Following our successful IPO in Oslo, our cooperation with Polyfuels is an important first step in opening up the northern European market,” said Pyrum CEO Pascal Klein.
According to Geir Langeland, CEO of Polyfuels, the company became involved in ELT recycling in the Nordic region about a year ago.
“After evaluating various scrap tire technologies, we came to the conclusion that Pyrum offers an optimal turnkey solution… with a complete business model,” Langeland explained.
The companies, he said, have already started preliminary studies on the four projects with partners: “And [we] have found concrete locations for the used tire plants in all countries.”
Polyfuels Group is engaged in the collection and recycling of waste plastics – both industrial and consumer – and chemical recycling projects with industrial partners.
