Clermont-Ferrand, France – Michelin Group has signed a four-year deal with four major French labour organisations to "enhance quality of working life and professional gender equality."
The deal, signed 5 Jan with the CFDT, CFE-CGC, CGT and SUD, covers areas including support for employees during personal-life challenges and “greater professional and personal life balance.”
For example, the agreement will simplify existing leave-of-absence schemes to help employees with “a seriously ill child or with a loved one who loses their autonomy.”
Furthermore, the number of leave days for family care-providers will rise from five to 66 days per employee, with new measures also agreed to support parenthood, added Michelin's 11 Jan announcement.
Another aspect of the agreement is the promotion of diversity and inclusion, particularly targeting “refugees, the long-term unemployed and job seekers”.
The initiative is part of Michelin’s ‘all sustainable vision’ and ambitions to be a leading-edge employer by 2030, continued the French group's statement.
The deal also aims to ‘contribute to accelerating ecological transition’ by changing commuting habits of employees.
As a result, the group will provide €300 per employee to cover up to 80% of public transport costs, promote sustainable mobility and introduce a car-pooling platform.
