Goodyear targets US for initial sale of 70% sustainable tires
Manufacturer to make said tires at a production facility in US
Akron, Ohio – Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will target the US market for its 70% sustainable tires, which are expected to go on sale this year.
“These tires will fit your typical passenger vehicles including sedans, light trucks and electric vehicles,” Goodyear explained in a statement to ERJ.
Initially, the tires will be sold in the US, as the tire maker continues to “test the market” and understand the demand and potential pricing.
Goodyear said the tires will be manufactured in the US but did not specify which plant will be producing them.
According to the Akron-based manufacturer, Goodyear’s standard passenger tires currently have between 15% and 30% sustainable materials.
