Project to initially focus on BWM tire arisings in Saarland, Germany
Dillingen, Germany – German waste tire pyrolysis company Pyrum Innovations AG has launched a pilot project with car maker BMW to recycle the group’s end-of-life tires (ELTs).
The project will see Pyrum processing used tires by the BMW group’s Saarland branch in western Germany, said a release 15 Dec.
"The responsible use of resources plays a central role for the BMW Group,” said Thomas Grupp, head of BMW customer support market Germany.
“Our goal is to reduce resource consumption by using high-quality secondary materials,” he added.
The initiative is also aligned with BMW’s strategy to promote “reuse and recycling” at the end of the product life cycle, Grupp added.
For Pyrum, the project will help expand its supply of ELTs and broadens the company’s existing collaborations with local partners, including BASF, Continental and the bicycle tire manufacturer Ralf Bohle (Schwalbe).
