Pirelli tops Dow Jones auto supplier sustainability charts

Obtains 'highest score in its sector' for management of natural resources, emission reductions, environmental reporting...
Milan, Italy – Pirelli & C. SpA has achieved a ‘top score’ in the automobiles & components sector on the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe indices, the company announced 10 Dec.
Following the 2022 annual review of sustainability indices by S&P Global, the Milan-headquartered tire maker said it earned a total score of 85 points, a substantially higher score compared to 77 achieved in 2021.
Pirelli said it obtained “top marks” in various management areas including governance and due diligence in the field of human rights, management of natural resources and reduction of CO2 emissions.
Furthermore, the tire maker was recognised for innovation and cyber security, and “completeness and transparency in social and environmental reporting”.
The score, it said, was “the highest score in its sector at the global level.”
“[The] sector shows that sustainability is the Pirelli business model; a growth strategy and, above all, a challenge to continually improve,” said Marco Tronchetti Provera, executive vice chairman and CEO.
Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones sustainability indices of S&P Global are among the most significant stock market indices regarding sustainability at the world level.
The annual analysis covered more than 13,000 companies.
