Eider outsoles produced from rubber by-products generated during tire manufacturing
Seoul – Nexen Tire has entered a partnership with French sportswear brand Eider for the manufacture of trekking shoes with enhanced grip.
Eider, which has a particularly strong presence in South Korea, has released four types of trekking shoes using rubber compounds from Nexen, the tire maker announced in a recent statement.
Under the partnership, the companies are to produce shoe soles (outsoles) using rubber by-products generated during the tire manufacturing process.
According to Nexen, the new products – Sale Hive TT, Light Hike TT, Nomad Light TT, and Quintum Neo Leather TT – provide “the best grip and abrasion resistance in any terrain”.
This, said the company, is because the products benefit from the same compound properties as those derived from the manufacture of tires.
