South Korean group selects Frankfurt as “important European hub”
Neu-Isenburg, Germany – Hankook & Co., the holding company of Hankook Tire & Technology Co., has established a new subsidiary in Germany to supply automotive batteries in Europe.
Part of the group’s Energy Solutions business, Frankfurt-based Hankook & Co. ES Deutschland will supply a range of Hankook-branded energy storage systems, said a 17 Oct statement.
The portfolio includes AGM (absorbent glass mat), EFB (enhanced flooded battery) and MF (maintenance free) batteries, which Hankook said are being provided to meet rising automotive demand.
Hankook said its AGM batteries provide “the best value for money” for start-stop vehicles and premium vehicles.
The Hankook EFB batteries feature improved MF technology, suitable for entry-level start-stop vehicles.
The new MF batteries, Hanook added offer “constant energy supply in all weather conditions for the best driving performance.”
Hankook offered a first look at the new batteries - formally Hankook Atlas BX - in Europe in September during the Automechanika trade fair in Frankfurt.
The group said it had chosen Frankfurt for its first European battery operation as “the city is an important hub for European rail and global air transport.”
“With this logistical advantage, Hankook aims to create an efficient supply chain for its premium batteries and expand its business activities in Europe,” said the South Korean group.
