Swedish group says demand for certified natural rubber compounds is set to rise significantly
Malmo, Sweden – Hexpol Compounding has certified natural rubber compounds produced at its facility in Lesina, Czechia to certified forest stewardship requirements.
The certification is by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), which, according to Hexpol, is the world's largest forest certification agency.
With the PEFC mark, the Lesina unit is now part of a supply-chain that can provide certified natural rubber compounds to all interested customers.
While the current demand for such compounds is small, Hexpol said it expected to see a rise in demand as industry demand for more sustainable solutions grows.
"Forests play a critical role for the global environment – especially in times of climate change,” said Norbert Niemand, managing director of the Lesina operation.
The certification, he added, shows Hexpol’s determination "to act responsibly."
