Move to strengthen “market-leading position” in EV and E&E industries
Heerlen/Geleen, The Netherlands – DSM Engineering Materials is expanding production capacity for high-performance materials at its manufacturing plant in Jiangyin, China.
Work on an additional compounding line began in February, with completion expected in 2023, said the Dutch group in a statement 24 Feb.
The new compounding line will, among other products, manufacture Arnitel-branded thermoplastic copolyesters as well as Akulon PA6/PA66 and Arnite PET/PBT.
The additional capacity will help DSM meet growing demand for high-performance polymers used in a wide range of end-applications – particularly for electric vehicles and in electrics, and electronics.
The move will also help drive the shift to a low-carbon, circular economy, said DSM noting the rising demand for sustainable high-performance materials in China in recent years.
The new facility, DSM said, will have “strong sustainability credentials” and the added capacity will deliver ‘no increase’ in greenhouse gas emissions upon start-up.
“We aim to strengthen our business partnerships [in China] by continuing to invest in key areas of sustainable growth,” said Caroline Mitterlehner, VP specialities DSM Engineering Materials.
“The Jiangyin site’s new compounding line enables us to further expand our speciality materials offering for customers in China,” she added.
