Study by Hiroki Hashimoto, Nippon Soda examines curing mechanisms of polybutadiene and styrene-butadiene rubber
Crosslinking of alkyl vinyl groups has been increasingly utilized recently for fabricating electronic materials with low dielectric properties and insulation, as well as for preparing rubber modifiers with enhanced mechanical strength, water resistance, and oil resistance. This paper, by Hiroki Hashimoto of Nippon Soda, explains processes of thermal hardening, or curing, of monomers and resins containing an alkyl vinyl group, with mechanisms illustrated by examples.
