Facility in Moulkia to use Klean Industries technology for ELT pyrolysis
Vancouver, British Columbia – Canadian tire waste pyrolysis specialist Klean Industries Inc and its partner Pyrolysis Hellas SA are set to build a recycling plant for end-of-life tires (ELTs) in the Greek town of Moulkia.
The partners have completed the second phase of their detailed feasibility study and have now acquired permits to build Greece’s first tire pyrolysis and carbon upgrading project, said Klean in a 21 Feb statement.
The facility will have a capacity to process 20 kilotonnes per annum of waste tires, to produce recovered carbon black (rCB) and recovered fuel oil (rFO), using Klean’s carbonisation process.
Pyrolysis Hellas SA is a 2021 joint venture project by Karabas European Hellenic Recycling SA (KEHR) and Cypriot private equity fund Corinth Capital.
KEHR currently operates a traditional ELT collection and recycling business in Greece, where it shreds tires into rubber granules, rubber powder & shock-absorbent surfacing slabs.
The new pyrolysis plant will be located at an existing industrial site that is owned by KEHR.
The project will produce its raw materials according to ASTM D36 and the latest standards will be certified in accordance with ISO 9001 and 14001, according to Klean.
