Linglong extends German football club sponsorship
Chinese tire maker adds sustainability focus to established partnership with VfL Wolfsburg
Linglong Tire has extended its eight-year parentship with German top-tier football club VfL Wolfsburg, the Chinese tire maker has announced.
The deal was formally sealed by Wang Feng, chairman & president of Linglong Tire and Michael Meeske, CEO of VfL Wolfsburg at a recent signing ceremony.
The Chinese tire maker will remain as the ‘global club of champions/top partner’, ‘official tire partner’, and ‘official jersey sleeve partner’ and also become ‘official team partner climate’ of VfL Wolfsburg.
Regarding Linglong’s support to VfL Wolfsburg over the past eight years,” said Meeske. “The club is obliged and willing to bring more surprises to Linglong in the process of our continued cooperation in the following three years.”
“Linglong Tire and VfL Wolfsburg have been actively exploring and making breakthroughs since they started cooperation in 2014, which has been deepening continuously.
Linglong will continue maintaining a close relationship and exploring cooperation opportunities [with VfL Wolfsburg ], according to the tire maker’s chairman & president
This, said Wang, will cover “not only in business, sports, and youth careers, but also in areas closely related to sustainable human development and climate protection.”
Furthermore, noting VfL Wolfsburg's role as an official partner of the United Nations Race to Zero initiative, the tire chief said Linglong would “work with the club to contribute more” to this programme.
