German manufacturer working on innovative steering systems for high-capacity buses
Kassel, Germany – German rail and bus components manufacturer the Huebner Group is working on developing the bus mode of transport and expand capacity to support the growing public transport demand in cities.
In addition to transitional systems for electric buses, the company is focusing on innovative steering systems for high-capacity buses, explained Huebner officials giving a tour of its headquarters factory in Kassel, to the new district president Mark Weinmeister.
“We are currently working on connecting a bus with a total length of over 30 metres to several intelligent axles," said Uwe Bittroff, head of the transition systems.
“This turns the bus into a tram, only it still runs on rubber wheels and doesn't need a rail network,” he explained.
The development will allow cities and municipalities to significantly expand their public transport offerings within a short period of time.
The family-owned group has a total of around 1,100 employees at the Kassel location, in central Germany.
