Starts up pilot facility at the site of former Semperit tire factory in Traiskirchen
Vienna – Start-up company Carbon Recovery GmbH has established a tire pyrolysis plant at the site of a former Semperit tire factory in Traiskirchen, Austria – with two more units to follow.
The pilot facility has capacity process around 8,000 tonnes of granulate from end-of- life tires (ELTs), according to press information on Carbon Recovery’s website.
The ramp-up of ‘Austria's first used tire pyrolysis plant’ has most recently included the installation and commissioning of a new heating and system control unit, according to the company.
The pilot plant is designed to recover carbon black, oil and other products from ELT tire granules via an on-developed pyrolysis process.
The unit was "brought to life" thanks to the dedicated efforts of the technical developer, the electronics engineer and the construction team, said a Carbon Recovery release last December.
With OMV, Borealis and Semperit as partners and buyers, Carbon Recovery also plans to establish a second process line in Traiskirchen and another elsewhere Austria, its website states.
