Cologne, Germany - Chemicals and polymers maker Lanxess is "intensifying" an established cooperation with Siemens with a contract for the procurement of technical goods for its global production facilities.
Under a five-year deal announced 2 Feb, Siemens will supply Lanxess with digital control systems and software, motor control centres and fire detection systems, among other items.
The contract, said Lanxess, covers “an order volume in the mid-double-digit million euro range and can also be extended to other material groups at any time.”
The two companies, it added, aim to accelerate the digital transformation at Lanxess through the joint development of digital applications and technologies.
“With the now globally uniform procurement conditions for the plant components, we are also making our technical procurement much more efficient,” said Hubert Fink, member of the Lanxess AG management board.
Cologne-based Lanxess includes additives and chemicals for rubber and tire applications in its product portfolio.
“We are joining forces and speeding up the innovation processes with regard to automation and digitalization in the process industry,” added Eckard Eberle, CEO process automation at Siemens.
