Imerys to impose energy surcharges on kaolin, CaCO3

Atlanta, Georgia -- Imerys North American Performance Minerals and Ceramics has announced that significant increases on energy costs necessitates the implementation of an energy surcharge.

Effective September 26, 2005, Imerys Performance Minerals will increase the energy surcharges on the following product groups:

Kaolin
    Calcined            $ 54 per ton (0.0270/lb.)
    Hydrous             $ 12 per ton (0.0060/lb.)
    Slurry              $  6.50 per ton (0.0032/lb.)
Calcium Carbonate
    Treated             $ 13 per ton (0.0065/lb.)
    Wet ground          $  9 per ton (0.0045/lb.)
    Dry ground          $  3 per ton (0.0015/lb.)

In a note to customers, Imerys said, "This is a very difficult issue. We appreciate your continued business and look forward to supplying our quality products to you in the future."
