Trinseo to hike vinyl pyridine latex prices in EMEA 

Horgen, Switzerland – Trinseo SA is increasing the prices of all vinyl pyridine latex sold into the tire cord market in Europe, Middle East and Africa, the materials supplier announced 18 May. 

Effective 1 June, the price increase will be €500/wet tonne as contractual agreements allow.

Trinseo said the increase was necessary to offset rising raw material costs.

Trinseo acquired Synthomer’s VP latex operations in May last year and manufactures the products at its production plant in Marl, Germany.

VP latex, according to Trinseo, is “an essential ingredient” in binders for coating tire cord fabrics, ensuring a strong bond between the tire cord and rubber during the tire manufacturing process.
