Several hundred laptops recently used by Arlanxeo staff and are in "excellent condition"
Dormagen, Germany – Arlanxeo has donated several hundred laptops to the Dormagen local community foundation, Buergerstiftung Dormagen, in an effort to support homeschooling during Covid-19 lockdowns.
The laptops will be provided by the foundation to the city of Dormagen, which will equip them accordingly with further software and then distribute them to the students, said a joint press release 26 March.
The aim is to provide the laptops – which were until recently used by Arlanxeo staff and are in “excellent condition” – to families who are having difficulty equipping their children with technology for homeschooling.
"The corona pandemic is exacerbating social inequality in education. We must not allow students from economically weaker families to lose out," said Dormagen Mayor Erik Lierenfeld.
"As there are currently supply bottlenecks in the purchase of computers and laptops due to the enormously high demand, I am all the more pleased about this donation,” he added.
"We want to do our bit locally in Dormagen, where we have our largest site in Germany. This is where we are rooted through our employees,” said Christoph Kalla, Arlanxeo managing director.
