New product best suited for industrial rubber applications in mining industry
Boston, Massachusetts – Cabot Corp. has announced the launch a new elastomer composite (E2C) product designed for industrial rubber products.
E2C DZ8650 offers “breakthrough improvements” in erosion and wet abrasion resistance and is part of the Durability series offered to reduce in-field failures and enhance operational uptime, Cabot announced 8 March.
The elastomer, Cabot said, is best suited for mining rubber applications such as slurry pumps, hydrocyclones and rubber pipes, where improved wear resistance can decrease downtime and lower operational costs.
According to Cabot, the product can extend the life of slurry pump liners by more than 50% or more, and in some cases, have been shown to extend slurry pump life by "up to twice as long as conventional reinforcing materials."
Cabot launched the E2C family of solutions - with three Durability, Efficiency and Foundation performance series - in early 2020, to expand its rubber and elastomer portfolio.
The latest launch marks the first Durability series product for use in industrial rubber products in the mining industry.
DZ8650 is a pre-mixed material delivered in "highly friable bales", which Cabot said simplifies material handling and supports production flexibility.
The elastomer can be integrated into an industrial rubber manufacturer's current production line without additional capital investment.
Additionally, Cabot maintains that due to being pre-mixed, the elastomer allows customers to achieve higher performance levels with faster processing times and smaller energy footprint.
Cabot’s E2C was named among ERJ’s top 10 Elastomers for Sustainability (E4S) announced in October last year.
