Trinseo opens new compounding plant

Horgen, Switzerland –  Trinseo has opened a new compounding factory at its Hoek site in Terneuzen, The Netherlands, the company announced 3 July.

Officially opened on 26 June, the facility replaces a facility at Terneuzen Industrial Park, said the maker of plastics, latex binders and synthetic rubber materials.

The relocation to Mosselbanken in Hoek was partly due to a lack of space for expansion at the Terneuzen Industrial Park.

The 450-employee Terneuzen site is Trinseo's second largest of Trinseo’s 16 production sites and 11 R&D centers worldwide.

The new compounding plant is in close vicinity to Trinseo’s new R&D centre, which was officially opened in September 2017.

A decisive advantage of the new location is the proximity to our storage and distribution partner Katoen Natie, Trinseo pointed out.

The unit “represents a long-term investment in the future, according to Frans Kempenaars, managing director of Trinseo Netherlands.

According to the MD, the Hoek-site facility incorporates “special features”, developed by an experienced team of Trinseo employees and contractors.

It is “going to take some getting used to at times,” said Kempenaars, while adding “we are very positive about the opportunities offered by this general change.”
