Dusseldorf, Germany – Continental Carbon India Limited (CCIL) is building a green filed carbon black production plant in the eastern Indian state of Gujarat, a company official has announced.
The plant will have a production capacity of 150 kilotonne per annum in the first phase, which is scheduled for start-up in the first quarter of 2021, according to Monique Lempereur, managing director Continental Carbon Co. Europe.
Speaking during the Carbon Black World Conference in Dusseldorf late September, Lempereurm said the Indian market is set to grow at the rate of 8–9 % for the next 10 years and is expected to reach just under 1.9 million tonnes by 2027.
CCIL parent company China Synthetic Rubber Corp (CSRC) announced in June that it was planning to inject $155 million (€133 million) into its operations in India but did not provide further details.
The Taiwan-based supplier of carbon black is also investing $52 million (€45 million) in its Houston-based operations to replenish its operating capital.
