Pawtucket, Rhode Island – Teknor Apex Co. has appointed Elizabeth Ponte as senior marketing manager for thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, the company announced 12 Dec.
Ponte will be responsible for integrating and coordinating the marketing activities of Teknor Apex;s TPE division in these regions, including the recently acquired TPE business of German-based Plastic-Technologie-Service (PTS).
Her remit will include overseeing the company’s brands including Elexar (compounds for electrical applications), Medalist (medical), Monprene (consumer and industrial), and Sarlink® (transportation).
Ponte joined Teknor Apex in 2001 as a process engineer and has since held a number of sales and marketing positions, chiefly involving TPEs. Prior to her new promotion, she was marketing manager for TPEs in the Americas for five years.
She holds an MBA in marketing from the University of Rhode Island (URI) and bachelor degrees from URI in chemical engineering and German. She has also studied in Germany at the Technical University of Braunschweig. She speaks German, Portuguese, and Spanish.
“Liz has developed disciplines that have increased the effectiveness of our TPE marketing in the Americas and enhanced the value of our online presence for customers,” said Sachin Sakhalkar, business manager for the Americas.
“In her new role she will apply this experience to our European marketing program and pay special attention to bringing into the Teknor Apex product family… TPEs that have been developed by PTS,” he added.
