Clermont-Ferrand, France – Michelin has unveiled its latest concept tire, Michelin CrossClimate, which it says “delivers an appropriate level of safety in all weather conditions throughout the year”.
In an announcement on 3 March, Michelin said that European motorists will be able to purchase the summer tire which has also been certified for use in winter, in May 2015.
CrossClimate, which combines summer and winter tire technologies, brakes in short distances on dry ground, has “A” rating in wet braking on EU tire labels.
The tire is approved for winter use, having received the Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake (3PMSF) certification.
According to Michelin, CrossClimate can be used in all seasons, even in countries that require special equipment for winter driving.
