Stockholm – Swedish rubber and plastics manufacturer AnVa Industries has developed a "completely climate-neutral rubber compound", incorporating recovered carbon black (rCB) supplied by Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro).
Named Climarub, the material builds on AnVa’s previously developed compound based on Enviro’s rCB, which has been supplied to leading Swedish automotive players, Enviro said in a 31 March statement.
"The launch [of Climarub] clearly demonstrates the significant commercial value of recycling in achieving climate neutrality," said Fredrik Emilson, CEO of Enviro.
Climarub, he added, is a "fully functional material that can replace fossil-based alternatives."
According to Enviro, demand for its rCB and pyrolysis oil remains high, with a steady flow of new enquiries.
Enviro has been supplying AnVa with commercial rCB deliveries since 2016 from its waste tire pyrolysis plant in Asensbruk, Sweden.
AnVa’s high-performance rubber components have been used in the production of more than 200 million chassis plugs and battery seals for major Swedish automotive manufacturers, according to Enviro.
By using Enviro’s rCB, AnVa has reduced its emissions by over 2 million kilogrammes of carbon dioxide equivalents, the Swedish tire recycler added.
