Establishes pilot-capacity lab in partnership with Shanghai-based chemicals distributor SCM
Tokyo - Eneos Materials Corp. is advancing the development of battery binders with the opening of a new pilot-scale laboratory facility in Nantong, China.
The lab unit is capable of battery evaluation and is established in collaboration with Shanghai-based chemicals distributor SCM Industrial Chemical, said Eneos 13 March.
Operational since 2006, SCM specialises in speciality chemicals and is engaged in supplying battery materials to major electric vehicle (EV) and battery manufacturers in China.
Eneos currently operates technical centres in Japan, Europe and China but the new project aims to “completely renovate” SCM’s existing lab to jointly introduce “cutting-edge pilot-scale equipment capable of battery manufacturing.”
By doing so, Eneos said it aims to “accelerate the development of battery binders and expand our business not only in the Chinese market but also globally.”
The Japanese materials supplier has “already begun exploring collaborations with select customers.”
