Biodegradable and synthetic waxes used in rubber and cable industry
Hamburg, Germany – Biesterfeld has signed an agreement with Deurex AG to distribute biodegradable waxes and synthetic waxes made by Deurex across Europe.
The waxes are used in the rubber and cable industry, said Biesterfeld in a recent statement.
The two companies began their partnership in June last year, with Biesterfeld winning the distribution rights for the biodegradable waxes Biomere and the synthetic polyethylene waxes Deurex for the regions DACH, Italy and France.
The rights have now been extended to cover the whole of Europe.
According to Biesterfeld, the biodegradable waxes can prevent the formation of microplastics, helping manufacturers fulfil EU regulations which deal with the placing of microplastics on the market.
This makes wax a good alternative to conventional polymers with equal performance and properties, Biesterfeld added.
For instance, it said, the waxes contribute to improved surfaces as well as high durability and a better appearance while being abrasion and weathering resistant.
The new additions, according to Biesterfeld, enhances the distributor’s rubber portfolio, covering a wide range of synthetic and biodegradable waxes.
“For example, we can now offer a harder Fischer-Tropsch wax or the biodegradable Biomere as a substitute for a softer polyethylene wax,” noted Franziska Toedter, product manager at Biesterfeld Performance Rubber.
