Project to bring total carbon black capacity at Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical site to 150ktpa
Quanzhou City, China – Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical Co. plans to expand carbon black production capacity at its Quanzhou City plant in the southeastern Chinese province of Fujian.
The company reported on 3 March that the environment impact assessment on the project to add an 80 kilotonne per annum (ktpa) facility there had been approved by local authorities.
The Yuan543 million (€70 million) investment in Quanhui Petrochemical Industrial Park, will include two rubber carbon black lines each with production capacity of 40 ktpa.
Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical established its initial carbon black plant at the site last year, with the annual output of 70ktpa.
The existing plant has a 40ktpa carbon black production line for tires, a 20ktpa carbon black line for rubber products, and a 10ktpa speciality carbon black line.
The facility uses 'ethylene tar' and catalytic cracking oil slurry to produce the hard and soft carbon black products.
A subsidiary of Sinochem Holding, Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical is an integrated oil refining and petrochemicals company, with capacity to process 15,000ktpa of crude and 1,000 ktpa ethylene production capacity.
