Among other products, the facility in Dayton, Ohio, will produce tire tags
Dayton, Ohio – Italian supplier of smart RFID and NFC tags and pressure sensitive adhesives Beontag has opened an $80 million (€75 million) facility in Trotwood, near Dayton.
The facility is designed to drive a four-fold increase in the tag maker’s production capacity in North America, Beontag said in a recent statement.
By the fourth quarter of 2025, the facility will be able to ship up to 3 billion RFID tags and up to 270 million sq.m. of graphic and label materials per year, the company said 17 Oct.
In particular, the site will manufacture self-adhesives and RFID smart tags for industrial, logistics and retail applications as well as ‘innovative tire tags’ for the automotive sector.
The plant, according to CEO Ricardo Lobo, will supply to existing customers as well as the needs of emerging markets in North America.
Beontag and Michelin have collaborated since 2019 to develop ‘TireTag Gen4’, which is designed for tire traceability throughout the complete tire lifecycle.
The hard tag can be embedded in tires and can withstand the harsh vulcanisation process of tires, according to Beontag.
