Orion announces Scherbakoff as new chief technology officer

Joins from polymers & chemicals major Trinseo, where she led global R&D and technology innovation activities
Houston, Texas – Orion SA has appointed Natalia Scherbakoff from Trinseo as the company’s new chief technology officer, the US-based carbon black supplier announced 17 Oct.
Scherbakoff will succeed CTO for almost a decade David Deters, who is retiring but will remain with Orion through to the end of 2024 to support the transition.
She will be based at Orion’s main innovation hub in Cologne, Germany, and will also oversee the company’s technical centers in China, South Korea and the US.
At Trinseo, Scherbakoff was vice president of technology & innovation, overseeing global research, development and technology innovation with particular focus on sustainability.
A member of Trinseo’s corporate environmental, social and governance council, she also” supported growth initiatives as well as mergers and acquisitions,” Orion noted.
Before Trinseo, Scherbakoff was VP research innovation & product lines at French automotive supplier Plastic Omnium, now known as OPmobility.
She also served as general manager of specialty composites and director of global innovation at Owens Corning.
“Natalia has broad global experience, a track record of moving ideas through the development process to successful product launches and commercial savvy,” said Orion CEO Corning Painter.
Scherbakoff holds a PhD and MSc in macromolecular science from Case Western Reserve University in the US, a chemical engineering degree from Mauá Engineering University in Brazil and an MBA from Getulio Vargas Foundation in Brazil).
