Move to help Bridgestone with "planning, find gaps in its service network, and gain deeper contextual intelligence..."
Nashville, Tennessee - Bridgestone Americas and Canadian fleet management specialist Geotab have started a collaboration to use data to enhance fleet optimisation.
The two partners aim to develop a fleet mobility ecosystem, involving the integration of each companies' solutions and data into services currently used by customers, Bridgestone announced 15 Oct.
Under the agreements, Bridgestone has obtained access to Geotab's intelligent transport system (ITS) consisting of anonymised data from 4.5 million connected vehicles.
Bridgestone will use the data within its mobility solutions (BMS) business to identify large fleet trends and behaviours.
The data will help the tire maker optimise efficiency, while also potentially quantifying any impact on fleet decarbonisation efforts, said Bridgestone.
Bridgestone said it would use Geotab's data on freight and fleet operations to help with its planning, find gaps in its service network, and gain deeper “contextual intelligence.”
The platform will also give the tire maker “advanced visibility” into regional vehicle types, as well as fleet operational profiles and industries.
Geotab, meanwhile, has secured access to a collection of anonymised BMS fleet insights such as location, speed, vehicle type and transportation routes, which it will use to train its AI models.
The two companies have “distinct, yet complementary identities” within the larger mobility ecosystem, and the collaboration will help advance BMS, said Scott Damon, group president, West Bridgestone mobility solutions.
The ‘larger set of data points’ will help Bridgestone “study and validate our evolving products and technologies,” Damon added.
These will help BMS to expand the scale of its solutions and improve customer outcomes for commercial fleets, he added.
