Technip Energies has passed final performance acceptance test for facility in Long Son Island
Paris – Long Son Petrochemicals Co. Ltd (LSP) olefins plant in Long Son Island, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, Vietnam, has passed its final performance acceptance test, according to Technip Energies.
French engineering firm Technip provided licensing, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up and initial operation services for the 1,350 kilotonne per annum (ktpa) cracker.
Vietnam's first such facility, the flexible feed cracker, can utilise both naphtha and LPG feeds to produce 950ktpa of ethylene and 400ktpa of propylene as well as up to 107ktpa of butadiene.
The plant started up at the end of 2023 to reach its full capacity shortly after the start-up and passed its first performance test in February, noted Technip's 1 Oct release.
The unit licenses the French group's ethylene technology, including ultra selective conversion furnaces, designed to offer “high selectivity and low cost.”
Another technology employed is the heat-integrated rectifier system, an ‘energy efficient ethylene recovery process’ by Technip.
