Move aims to capitalise on growing liquid silicone rubber demand
Thalheim bei Wels, Austria – Austrian liquid silicone rubber (LSR) specialist Rico Group has celebrated 30 years of operation with the expansion of its headquarters in Thalheim bei Wels, in Upper Austria.
The investment marks the sixth expansion project at the site and aims to capitalise on the growing LSR market, said Rico in a recent statement.
The unit now covers an area of 2.5 hectares, including 10,000 sqm of production space and office units.
The new facilities, Rico said, include “state-of-the-art production halls, a high-bay warehouse and offices that meet the highest standards of efficiency and working comfort.”
The company announcement did not provide further details about production capacity or the size of the investment.
Originally standing for Rubber Injection Co., Rico was founded in 1994 and was acquired by Austrian industrial elastomer group Semperit last year.
Integrated into the Semperit Engineered Applications (SEA) division, Rico has significantly contributed to the Vienna-based group’s sales volumes.
In the first half of 2024, SEA revenue grew 18.0% year-on-year to €192.8 million, of which €47.0 million was attributable to Rico.
