Swiss group aims to specify ‘ambitious and achievable’ emissions reduction targets over the next few months
Altdorf, Switzerland – Datwyler Group has joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as part of its strategy to reduces environmental footprint and enhance sustainability within the group.
With the move, the Swiss elastomer products group will work towards binding greenhouse gas reduction targets.
As part of the process, Datwyler aims to specify ‘ambitious and achievable’ emissions reduction targets over the next few months, it announced 18 Sept.
The time horizon for the targets will be within 5-10 years, which will be reviewed and approved by SBTi.
The SBTi is a global framework for setting science-based climate targets for companies to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in scope 1, 2 and 3 in line with the Paris Agreement global climate targets.
Datwyler said the decision underlined its commitment to being “a responsible partner” for all stakeholders.
“We are demonstrating how seriously we take our role in tackling the climate challenge,” said Sabrina Gérard chief sustainability officer.
