Italian retreading specialist launches RTH155 tread ring based on Prinx’s Austone tires
Rovereto, Italy – Italian retreading specialist Marangoni has announced a strategic partnership with Prinx Chengshan Europe/Austone Tires to tackle the growing shortage of tire casings and address distribution challenges in the supply chain.
The collaboration, which builds on an earlier long-term partnership announced in June, aims to provide fleet operators with a ‘cost-effective, integrated, and sustainable’ solution by combining new tires and retreads.
Under the partnership, Prinx will supply “high-quality” tire casings to Marangoni, which will then use these casings to produce retreaded tires, Marangoni announced on 19 Sept.
The collaboration is intended to ensure a ‘consistent supply of quality casings’ in response to the growing needs of Marangoni’s customers.
Tire casings refer to the inner structural layers of a tire, providing support under the tread and playing a crucial role in the retreading process.
According to Marangoni, the retread industry is currently facing a “significant challenge” caused by growing shortage of casings from European manufacturers.
The issue, as a result, is also affecting the continuity of operations for many fleet operators.
Under the new partnership, the Italian retreader aims to mitigate such issues by using Prinx’s best-selling product Austone.
Earlier this month, the two partners launched the RTH155 tread ring during the IAA Transportation expo in Hanover 17-22 Sept.
The RTH155 has been developed using Marangoni’s RingTread system and based on Austone Tires ATH155 trailer tire.
This is the first time an Austone tread has been integrated into Marangoni’s spliceless retreading process.
