Helsinki – Metso is introducing its “unique circular” mill liner recycling service for the mining industry in North America, the Finnish group announced 19 Sept.
Already offered in Europe and South America, the process, said Metso, the service reduces the amount of unprocessed waste materials sent to landfill.
Metso will use a ‘modular’ service model in North America that “brings the recycling process close to customer locations in the US, Canada and Mexico.”
Availability of the service “will be based on customer needs and demand,” added Giuseppe Campanelli, president, North America market area, Metso.
As part of its mill lining offering, Metso said it is developing ways to increase the use of recycled materials in liners.
The recycling service employs “innovative” technology for the separation of different rubber and metal liner components, like cast inserts, wear plates, and backing plates.
This enables “efficient separation” of different liner materials so that components can be recycled into new products, said Markus Marttiini, VP, optimized mill lining products, Metso.
