Ceat starts truck tire production at southern India plant

Facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, set to ramp up production over the next 12 months
Mumbai, India – Ceat Ltd has started commercial production of truck and bus radials (TBRs) at its tire production facility in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.
In an 11 September filing, Ceat said production at the plant in Sriperumbudur will be ramped up steadily over the next 12 months.
According to the Indian tire maker, the expansion project aims to progressively reach a capacity of 1,500 units per day.
Ceat started production at the €500-million Sriperumbudur facility in 2020, with focus on supplying OEM customers located in the nearby state of Chennai.
According to the ERJ Global Tire Report 2023, the unit has a production capacity of 31,000 units of passenger car and motorcycle tires per day.
