Move will see Indian-based tire manufacturer closing research & development centre in Raunheim, Germany
Gurugram, India – Apollo Tyres is consolidating its European R&D operations into the group's existing development centre in The Netherlands, the Indian tire maker has announced.
In a 9 Sept statement to ERJ, the company said it had decided to integrate its passenger car tire and OE product development teams at the Dutch centre in Enschede.
“This strategic move will help maximise on the synergies and improve the product development lead time, with the materials and pre-development teams also housed under the same roof,” Apollo stated.
The tire maker currently operates two R&D centres in Europe - one in Raunheim Germany and one in Enschede - as well as an Asian centre based in Tamil Nadu, India.
Apollo's statement did not provide details about the timeline for the consolidation move or the potential impact on jobs.
