Nanhua, China – Sinopec is advancing a project to establish a Yuan4-billion (€500 million) facility for the production of rubber additives and other chemicals at Nanhua, in the eastern Chinese province of Fujian
Signalling progress being made in establishing the facility, Sinopec released a tender announcement on 13 Aug for control valves and machinery to be used in the manufacturing processes.
As announced by the Chinese group in late March, the project includes a 300 kilotonne per annum (ktpa) plant for the manufacture of aniline feedstock for various chemicals including rubber accelerators and antioxidants.
The facility will also include capacity to produce 86ktpa of 'rubber additives', 45ktpa of methyl isobutyl ketone, as well as supporting auxiliary facilities.
With production set for start-up in 2026, the plant is designed to supply a broad range of industries, including tire & rubber, MDI, pharmaceutical and dyes.
