New facility in Jiangsu, China to produce 25 million units of tires once fully operational
Hangzhou, China – Zhongce Rubber (ZC Rubber) has submitted a first environmental impact assessment for a major passenger car radial (PCR) tire plant to be built in Jintan district, in the eastern province of Jiangsu.
The project, said ZC's 9 Aug submission, will involve building a ‘high performance green 5G digital new energy tire production base’ with an estimated cost of Yuan5 billion (€600 million).
With the construction period estimated to be between “2024 to 2025”, the project will produce 25 million units of PCRs per year, said China’s largest tire manufacturer.
To be built in an area of 836 acres, the project will include a carbon black production line, a rubber processing line, a tread and sidewall extrusion line, and a steel wire and fibre cord calendering line.
The factory marks ZC’s second ‘5G’ production facility in China, following the ramping up of production at its “green 5G digital factory" in Hangzhou, south east China earlier this summer.
Furthermore, the Chinese tire maker is expanding its operations with two overseas tires plants currently under construction in Indonesia and Mexico. (ERJ report)
