Strike ends at Sumitomo Rubber factory in Turkey
Union says 43-day industrial action in Cankiri ended with an agreement 'meeting its demands...'
Cankiri, Turkey – A strike at the Sumitomo Rubber Industries tire plant in Cankiri has come to an end, the dispute having lasted for 43 days.
The industrial action was launched 29 May, following failed negotiations over ‘wages, social rights and administrative items’ and ended 9 July with “gains,” reported trade union Petrol-Is.
The union statement did not provide details of the settlement but said Sumitomo Rubber had eventually reached “an agreement… meeting our demands.”
Operational since 2015, the facility manufactures 3,100 tonnes per month of passenger car tires, including racing tires and employs 2,400 people.
