Revea-branded materials incorporate recycled or bio-based ingredients
Paris – Hutchinson SA has stepped up its sustainability efforts with the introduction of a new range of 'environmentally friendly' elastomer materials, branded Revea.
Containing recycled and/or bio-based ingredients, the range was developed to help industry players transition to a low-carbon future, said the French group's 8 July announcement.
Combining “high performance with reduced environmental impact,” the offering covers: Revea R for rubber materials, revea TP for thermoplastic materials and Revea TPE for thermoplastic elastomeric materials.
The Revea R range, for instance, includes EPDM elastomers, containing recycled materials and showing “similar properties compared to standard formulation.”
The EPDM material, according to Hutchinson, features “good mechanical properties, elasticity and thermal resistance.”
The TPE version incorporates 40% recycled polypropylene, said the French group without providing further details about these elastomer materials.
The new materials were unveiled following Hutchinson’s launch of its ‘resolutions’ eco-label, to be awarded to materials meeting criteria for CO2 reduction, weight savings and use of recycled/bio-based materials.
