Materials technology launched in 2021 following 24-month collaborative R&D effort with Arlanxeo and Solvay
Brussels - Bridgestone is “still using” the Techsyn materials technology developed jointly with Arlanxeo and Solvay, the tire manufacturer has confirmed in a written statement.
Techsyn is “one of the technologies used to get additional efficiency and sustainability benefits in our Turanza 6 touring tire,” a Bridgestone Europe spokeswoman said in a 5 July to ERJ’s enquiry.
“Currently there are no other joint material development programs [we] can share but… we are continuously fostering partnerships for new technologies," she added.
Bridgestone, Arlanxeo and Solvay launched Techsyn in early 2021, following a 24-month collaborative R&D effort between the three partners.
The innovative platform combined the partners’ respective expertise in the fields of tire compounds, synthetic rubber and reinforcing-silica technologies.
Tires made with Techsyn compounds are said to exhibit up to 30% better wear efficiency and a 5% reduction in rolling-resistance – compared to conventional Bridgestone summer tires.
The partners also claimed that the “unique” balance across rolling-resistance, wear and wet-grip could be adapted by adjusting compounds to meet specific tire requirements.
