Trelleborg targets expansion in Brazil with John Deere ag tire partnership

Sao Paulo, Brazil – Trelleborg Tires, part of Yokohama Trelleborg Wheel Systems (Yokohama TWS), has strengthened its presence in Brazil with a new partnership deal with agricultural machinery supplier John Deere.

As part of the deal, concluded during the Sao Paulo Agrishow in May, John Deere will distribute Trelleborg farm tires throughout its 300 dealerships across Brazil.

The deal officially took effect in July and will see the supply of 700 Trelleborg products at John Deere after-sales, said Trelleborg in a 2 July statement.

The move is part of Trelleborg Tires’ strategy to “significantly expand” its network in Brazil, where it currently sells its products to traditional tire distributors and end users.

The end users are primarily connected to the sugarcane and grain segments, representing around 60% of the company’s sales in the country, explained Marcelo Natalini, president of Yokohama TWS South America.

With the partnership with John Deere, “the idea now is to gain more market share and expand sales to small and medium-sized farmers,” Natalini added.

“John Deere’s strong and well-established local presence... [make it] the ideal partner for this expansion,” he added.

With over 30 years of presence in Brazil, Trelleborg Tires said it was closely following “the strong and growing development of the Brazilian agricultural market and its importance on the global stage.”

“This expansion strategy in the country aims to keep pace with this development and better meet the demand of Brazilian farmers,” the company added.
