Tire maker to supply tires for fleet of over 1,000 vehicles used for Olympic and Paralympic games this summer
Paris – Bridgestone Corp. is supplying tires for a fleet of more than 1,000 vehicles to help keep the Paris Olympic and Paralympic games in motion this summer.
The Japanese group has entered a partnership with Paris Olympics to also supply services beyond tires as well as sports equipment to the games, Bridgestone announced 2 July.
As part of the partnership, the group will be supplying tires to more than 1,000 of newly-provided vehicles by Toyota.
The tires will include new Bridgestone Turanza 6 and the Bridgestone Alenza 001 tires featuring the company’s advanced lightweighting technology Enliten.
In addition to the electrified Toyota passenger vehicle fleet, Bridgestone is providing tire fitments to a number Toyota’s hydrogen-powered and inclusive mobility offerings.
Tires will be fitted for 500 hydrogen-fuelled Toyota Mirai fuel cell electric vehicles; two hydrogen-fuelled buses and 250 Toyota zero tailpipe emission electric ‘accessible people movers’ (APMs) that will transport athletes, staff, and fans during the games.
Bridgestone is also providing motorcycle tires for more than 20 motorcycles used in support of Paris 2024 road course events.
These provisions include tire fitments for a prototype Kawasaki hydrogen motorcycle.
In addition to tires, Bridgestone will provide automotive services; road safety education to athletes and staff; and “high-performing" sports and golf equipment during the games.
The group is placing three dozen Bridgestone-owned Speedy and First Stop tire and maintenance service centres on call during games to support all fleet tires and passenger vehicles.
The games are “powerful platforms that unite and inspire people around the world through emotion and performance,” said Laurent Dartoux, president, Bridgestone EMEA.
Objectives of the game tie in with Bridgestone’s mission of ‘serving society with superior quality,’ Dartoux added.
