Akron, Ohio - In its 2023 Corporate Responsibility Report, issued 27 June, Goodyear reported the recent introduction of a passenger car tire with up to 70% sustainable materials.
The EcoReady tire was launched in the US in December 2023, noted Goodyear which signalled plans to launch such a product in January 2023 (ERJ report)
The tire is engineered with soybean oil, to reduce petroleum-based oil, rice husk ash silica and sustainably sourced natural rubber, the Akron group stated.
EcoReady has “the industry’s highest level of sustainable material content to date,” Goodyear’s new CEO and president Mark Stewart said in a press release about the CSR report.
The corporate report offers no details about performance ratings, though a link in the press release takes readers to a site showing EcoReady tires on sale for $275 each.
Features are said to include an “asymmetric tread design that provides stability in dry conditions and helps maintain grip in wet conditions” and a “unique” tread pattern that allows a quieter ride.’
